BIFF Volunteer Crew Members are the heart and soul of the festival. We are grateful that so many volunteers return year after year and are delighted to welcome all newcomers!

Volunteer Crew Members who work at least 10 volunteer hours during BIFF (Volunteer Crew Silver Level) receive benefits including ticket vouchers, a BIFF t-shirt and badge, virtual cinema passes and additional perks throughout the season. And, there are extra perks for volunteers who work 25 or more hours (Volunteer Crew Gold Level.)  Learn about all of our BIFF Volunteer Benefits.

To become a new BIFF Volunteer Crew Member:
– Review our list of Festival Teams below to find the best teams for you
– Create a BIFF Shiftboard Account by clicking on the Shiftboard logo below or going to https://shiftboard.com/BIFF/register.html
– Once registered, you will receive a welcome email from Shiftboard and our BIFF Staff will assign you to your Festival Teams.

Returning Volunteers
If you registered to volunteer for BIFF 2022, please login to Shiftboard to update your profile with your current availability and interests. We also request that you fill in a few new mandatory fields that are highlighted in yellow. The information in your Shiftboard profile determines your team assignments and our communication to you during the season.

If you volunteered in prior years, but did not re-register in 2022, please re-register with Shiftboard now.

Box Office volunteers are the helpful, friendly people who handle ticketing and sales at film venues and special events as well as support advance sales and guest services in our new Festival Box Office inside the Kota Kinabalu Visitor Information Center (VIC) on the Pearl Street Mall.
